Leading global cryptocurrency exchange and Web3 company, Bitget, has announced its participation in the 68th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68). This event is an important annual gathering on gender equality and women’s empowerment, and will take place in New York from March 11th to 22nd. Gracy Chen, the Managing Director of Bitget, has been invited to participate as a representative in this event to highlight the company’s commitment to enhancing women’s empowerment and promoting gender equality in the Web3 space. Gracy will also share her insights and participate in discussions on how Bitget can contribute to promoting gender inclusivity in the technology and blockchain sectors.

Gracy emphasized Bitget’s commitment to gender equality and stated, “Empowering women to take on leadership roles and providing equal opportunities is the cornerstone of Bitget’s Blockchain4Her initiative. I am delighted to attend the annual meeting of the United Nations Women’s Agency, where we can share insights and learn from respected leaders in this field. By attending as a representative, we will further optimize Bitget’s strategy to align our goals with organizations worldwide and drive gender equality and diversity in the cryptocurrency field more effectively.” Gracy Chen reiterated Bitget’s commitment to promoting gender equality.

The 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women will focus on discussing “accelerating gender equality and empowering all women and girls through addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender equality perspective.” United Nations statistics show that 0.3% of women globally live in extreme poverty, indicating the urgent need to accelerate progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, as well as the need for a $360 billion increase in investment.

Bitget’s commitment to gender equality is reflected in its various initiatives, including activities and plans targeting women. Recently, Bitget’s research department conducted a study on the topic of gender equality, highlighting the gender gap in fundraising for blockchain startups during the period of 2022-2023. The report revealed that women-led blockchain startups only received 6% of the overall funding, with women-led startups accounting for 8% of the total share.

In January of this year, Bitget launched the Blockchain4Her initiative with a $10 million investment, aiming to promote gender diversity and inclusivity in the blockchain industry. Several female industry leaders have already joined the initiative.

Bitget’s core value lies in envisioning a fairer future world through the development of Web3 and cryptocurrencies, empowering different groups regardless of cultural background, economic status, age, or gender. Bitget has taken a proactive stance in promoting inclusivity in the Web3 space, attracting female thought leaders as exemplary figures in the blockchain industry.
