“Guillaume implicated in 8 billion KRW NFT fraud case, facing prosecution for ‘The Devil’s Scheme'”
The popular Korean variety show “The Devil’s Scheme,” which is currently streaming on Netflix, has recently been reported to have involved fraudulent activities using P2E game NFTs. The amount involved is as high as 8 billion Korean won.
“The Devil’s Scheme” is a highly praised variety show in Korea, which invites experts from various fields such as artists, doctors, lawyers, and YouTubers to solve problems and compete intellectually. Even watching an entertainment show like this requires a lot of brainpower.
However, Guillaume Patry, who comes from a professional gaming background, is now facing a lawsuit. According to a report by “BreakNews,” Guillaume is suspected of using non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in the gaming industry for fraudulent purposes, and he is accused of defrauding up to 8 billion Korean won (approximately 200 million Taiwanese dollars).
It was reported that the Seoul Reisau Police Station revealed that in July of this year, Guillaume and other relevant individuals were registered for investigation on suspicion of fraud. Guillaume has been involved in promoting a P2E (Play to Earn) game developed by the NFT gaming company Meta Adventure since February of last year. However, the game was not eventually launched, and more than 60 investors filed a lawsuit against Guillaume and others.
Drama House Studio, Guillaume’s agency, released a statement affirming that Guillaume only participated as a simple consultant and not as an owner or employee of Meta Adventure. They will faithfully cooperate with the investigation and do their best to prevent further damage.
According to Meta Adventure’s official website, Guillaume, also known as Giyom, is introduced as the Non-fungible Wizard, the ambassador for NFTs and P2E. Although he does not hold an official title, he is listed in the first position. When he appeared on “The Devil’s Scheme,” the production team introduced him as someone who made a fortune through virtual currency. Guillaume showcased his professional gamer’s clear mind and mysterious side, leaving a deep impression on the viewers.
