Taiwan’s Vice President and People’s Party candidate, Wu Hsin-ying, discussed the issue of cryptocurrency for the first time in the presidential election during a policy presentation. She stated that Taiwan is plagued by rampant fraud, with most ill-gotten gains being transferred through cryptocurrency. Wu called for the improvement of Taiwan’s outdated personal information protection law, the introduction of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to safeguard the personal information of the public, and alignment with international regulations in effectively managing cryptocurrency to prevent fraudulent activities.
