Reflections on the Bitcoin Block Size War: A Tale of Two Perspectives
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, expressed that the Bitcoin block size war in the 2010s was a crucial event in the history of cryptocurrencies. This war divided the Bitcoin community and had a profound impact on the future of blockchain technology. Recently, I have delved into two books that describe the opposing viewpoints during this period: “The Blocksize War” by Jonathan Bier and “Hijacking Bitcoin” by Roger Ver and Steve Patterson. These books provide interesting insights from different perspectives on the debate. As someone who experienced and participated in this conflict, I found revisiting these events to be refreshing.
