Bloomberg reports that the US Republican presidential candidate Trump met with several Bitcoin miners and industry professionals at his Mar-a-Lago estate, promising to publicly advocate, support, and protect Bitcoin mining in Washington DC and the White House. He claimed that miners help maintain the stability of the energy grid, strengthening his support for cryptocurrency once again.

As part of his campaign activities, Trump met with several prominent American Bitcoin miners yesterday (11) evening and expressed his support for Bitcoin mining during the meeting.

The report stated that he promised attendees that he would advocate for Bitcoin mining in the White House, stating that miners would help stabilize the energy grid.

Attendees reportedly included large mining companies listed on Nasdaq such as CleanSpark, Riot Platforms, Marathon Digital, as well as CEOs and executives from Bitcoin Magazine and related media, most of whom shared photos with Trump on social media.

Among them, Riot Platforms, which is currently in the process of acquiring another mining company Bitfarms, its CEO Jason Les mentioned in a tweet the promises made by Trump during the meeting:
President Trump will protect the rights of all who own, mine, and transact with Bitcoin, as well as the rights of many of us who work in the Bitcoin industry.

S. Matthew Schultz, co-founder of CleanSpark, also expressed optimism:
I just met someone who is a super fan of Bitcoin and likes what we are doing.

After the meeting, Trump also posted on his own social platform Truth Social, criticizing his competitor Biden’s hostile attitude towards Bitcoin:
Bitcoin mining may be our last line of defense against CBDC. I hope all the remaining Bitcoins are mined in the US, which will help us become energy dominant!
He also added, “Including Democrats like Biden, who are more inclined towards government-led solutions.”

As the November US election approaches, Trump’s position on cryptocurrency is quite clear, from accepting cryptocurrency donations to claiming that he will seek clemency for the Silk Road founder. Reuters previously reported that Trump’s fundraising event in Silicon Valley raised $12 million, attracting cryptocurrency industry figures such as Gemini founders Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss.

However, whether he will fulfill his promises remains unknown.

On the other hand, there has been a shift in Democratic presidential candidate Biden’s stance on cryptocurrency, with The Block claiming that his campaign team has been seeking advice and guidance on digital asset policies from the cryptocurrency industry since May. Last month, Biden also sought “internet meme page managers” as part of the latest strategy to attract young voters and the Z generation.
