CZ Denied Exit Twice
According to CoinDesk, US District Judge Richard Jones once again denied the request for Binance founder Zhao Changpeng (CZ) to leave the country on December 27th.
Although the judge initially believed that CZ did not pose a significant flight risk, the decision to prohibit CZ from leaving the country was made after a review of the bail order, marking the second time CZ’s request to leave was denied.

Zhao Changpeng’s Defense Team Requests Document Sealing
CZ and his defense team have requested the sealing of certain documents related to his planned departure, citing the inclusion of sensitive information such as CZ’s children’s privacy and medical records, thus necessitating the sealing of the documents.
As the sealing order signed by Judge Richard Jones is not publicly available, the reasons for denying CZ’s exit cannot be known.
Previous reasons included CZ’s uncontrollable assets, CZ’s freedom of movement in the US, and the ability of his family to visit him in the US.
Sentencing Hearing to be Held in February
CZ’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for 9:00 am on February 23, 2024, in the Western District of Washington.
If CZ insists on not appearing in court, he may be charged with a maximum of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.
Previous reports indicated that Zhao Changpeng could face a maximum sentence of 10 years:
