Apple CEO Tim Cook introduced Apple Intelligence (AI), a feature designed to provide highly personalized experiences based on user privacy. AI promises to understand users’ daily habits, relationships, and communications, going beyond traditional artificial intelligence into what Cook calls the realm of “personal intelligence.”

During the post-keynote session, Apple’s Senior Vice President Craig Federighi announced Apple’s plans to collaborate with other AI models beyond OpenAI. Google’s Gemini model was emphasized as a future partner, highlighting Apple’s commitment to integrating diverse AI technologies.

Siri has integrated ChatGPT, with Elon Musk strongly criticizing it, and the feature will be disabled within the company. Siri is now smarter and more intuitive through integration with OpenAI’s GPT-4 and other generative AI models. The enhancement aims to make interactions with Siri more natural and personalized.

Siri now features LED flashing prompts and better handling of voice errors and context understanding. Users can also choose to input text commands, adding flexibility to interactions with the virtual assistant.

A major highlight of Apple Intelligence in iOS 18 is the ability to create AI images and emojis in message conversations. This feature aims to make everyday chats more fun and personalized.

Apple’s new password manager app simplifies password management with an intuitive interface. Users can easily browse their passwords, including Wi-Fi passwords and passkeys.

The iPad now has the “Smart Script” feature, enhancing handwriting recognition with the Apple Pencil to make notes smoother and more readable through machine learning within the device.

The addition of a calculator app for the iPad has excited developers, providing advanced mathematical recording functionalities utilizing the large screen space.

macOS Sequoia introduces the iPhone mirroring feature, allowing users to directly control their iPhones from a Mac. This feature is part of macOS Continuity and is expected to streamline tasks like app presentations during video calls.

VisionOS 2 offers productivity enhancements and immersive experiences, including the use of AI to create spatial photos from existing images. Vision Pro headsets will also be launched in eight new countries.

Apple has introduced a satellite messaging feature similar to its emergency SOS, allowing users to send messages to satellites when there is no phone signal.

iOS 18 introduces powerful app locking features, enabling users to protect individual apps when lending their phones. This feature requires authentication through Face ID, Touch ID, or a password to ensure privacy and prevent app information from appearing in searches or notifications.

The upcoming iOS 18 offers unprecedented customization options. Icons are no longer limited to grid layouts, allowing users to freely arrange app icons and widgets, showcasing background photos. This long-requested feature also supports dark mode icons and multiple color schemes, enhancing visual aesthetics.

Apple has launched the Tap to Cash feature, allowing users to securely transfer funds by tapping two iPhones together. This feature enhances transaction privacy and convenience. Apple emphasizes that no personal information will be shared during the money transfer process, adding an extra layer of privacy protection.

VisionOS 2 brings significant productivity enhancements and new immersive experiences. One highlight feature is using AI technology to convert regular photos into spatial photos. This new method utilizes machine learning to create additional perspectives from existing images, a significant upgrade from the previous requirement of using an iPhone 15 Pro or Vision Pro headset to capture photos.

The new operating system introduces intuitive navigation options, including tapping to return to the home screen or flipping to access the control center. These operations provide users with shortcuts, notifications, and other features, enhancing the overall usability of Vision Pro headsets.

Apple announced that Vision Pro headsets will be launched in eight new countries, expanding their market reach and allowing more users to enjoy these innovative features.

WWDC 2024 showcased Apple’s continued commitment to innovation, particularly in the fields of AI and user experience. From the groundbreaking Apple Intelligence to the enhanced features of Siri, Apple is laying the foundation for a more intelligent, integrated digital future.
