Japanese e-commerce platform Mercari integrates Bitcoin payment
According to the report by the Japanese Economic News, Japanese second-hand trading e-commerce platform Mercari (メルカリ) will implement Bitcoin payment functionality before June this year. The payment-related services will be provided through Mercari’s subsidiary, Melcoin (メルコイン). The prices of items on the platform will still be displayed in Japanese yen, but users can choose to pay with Bitcoin at the checkout stage.
Mercari has not yet made any official announcements.

Mercari is the largest second-hand goods trading platform in Japan, established in 2013. It went public on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in June 2018 and also operates in the US market. Mercari offers a wide range of product categories, including clothing, electronics, household items, toys, books, etc.
