The second ETHTaipei concluded successfully from March 21st to March 24th, attracting enthusiastic participation from over a thousand attendees. In addition to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik’s creative temple-inspired attire, which amazed the audience and sparked online discussions, the 40-hour-long hackathon brought together more than 300 developers from around the world, showcasing their technical talents and innovative ideas. After days of hard work and in-depth discussions, the moment of unveiling the results finally arrived, with several projects receiving high recognition from the judges for their innovativeness.
This hackathon focused on bringing more innovative applications to Ethereum through Layer2, Privacy, and On-chain AI. Developers used their past development experiences and cutting-edge technologies to bring new products and vitality to the entire ecosystem within three days. A total of 70 teams participated, producing 56 projects and competing for over 2.3 million in prizes. After careful evaluation by the judges, several notable projects were selected.
Exciting and surprising among the nine Community Finalists were two teams that implemented products using the latest technologies from the Dencun upgrade, including using Blob Data to make Layer2 applications more cost-effective in terms of transaction fees, and utilizing Transient Storage to optimize ERC20 and ERC721. These projects demonstrated the Ethereum community developers’ understanding of the latest EIPs and their unique ability to apply them flexibly.
Additionally, several teams from Taiwan caught attention by creating end-to-end products within just three days. Examples include ZicretPair, an anonymous dating platform on the blockchain, Hiraijin, a QR code transfer system for on-chain assets, and Kage, a cross-chain privacy transfer service. These teams participated in the Demo Day and received high recognition, facilitating extensive exchanges between international and Taiwanese developers, fostering the creation of more excellent ideas, and bringing different sparks and creativity to all participants.
In addition to the aforementioned projects, many other outstanding works emerged in this hackathon. These innovative projects not only showcased the participants’ technical abilities but also demonstrated their passion and anticipation for the Ethereum ecosystem.
This hackathon also received positive evaluations from international companies that sponsored prizes and posed challenges for the Taiwanese developer community. The judging team from Consensys stated, “Project quality was really competitive,” and the Polygon team responded, “The quality of projects were mostly above average from a hackathon perspective.”
