US Presidential Candidate Trump Shows Keen Interest in Cryptocurrencies and Accepts Bitcoin Payments
US presidential candidate Donald Trump expressed his interest in cryptocurrency, particularly Bitcoin, during an interview on CNBC yesterday. He mentioned that Bitcoin is another form of currency, and he sometimes accepts Bitcoin as payment from others.
Trump had previously criticized cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, believing that their value is based on thin air and that they are associated with illegal activities. However, his attitude towards Bitcoin has significantly changed recently. In a Fox News interview at the end of February, Trump emphasized his preference for the US dollar and stated that he neither supports nor opposes Bitcoin.
During the CNBC interview, Trump mentioned that he is “very interested” in cryptocurrency but does not engage in trading himself. He stated that he occasionally does small things for entertainment, which can also be profitable and enjoyable. Additionally, he mentioned that he sometimes accepts Bitcoin as payment, highlighting that it is another form of currency.
VanEck had predicted at the end of last year that Trump would return to the White House, which would contribute to Bitcoin’s surge to $100,000 by 2024. Trump is also one of the few political figures interested in NFTs. He has released a series of NFTs, offering buyers the opportunity to have dinner with him. With Trump’s presidential campaign gaining momentum, his stance on cryptocurrency is expected to become a significant focus of attention.
