Blockchain-Based Golf Experience: Solana’s Golf Application GolfN Launches on Apple Store
GolfN: The Application Combining Blockchain and Golf Officially Launches on the Apple App Store
The application GolfN, which integrates blockchain technology with the sport of golf, has officially launched on the Apple App Store. It is the first Web 3 sports gaming platform on the market based on the Solana blockchain, specifically designed for golf players. The platform combines gaming, digital assets, and traditional golf communities, attracting over 46,000 users for trial sign-ups, sparking discussions in the sports and technology sectors.
GolfN’s CEO: A Gateway for Cryptocurrency Users to Engage with Golf
Jared Phillips, CEO of GolfN, stated that every cryptocurrency user could potentially participate in the golf gaming experience. He emphasized that GolfN is not just a tool for swinging a club, but also a platform that rewards players for their swings while allowing them to engage with the community and experience Web 3.
From Swinging to Earning: GolfN’s Operational Mechanism
After downloading and registering for GolfN from the App Store, users are provided with three digital golf clubs. Players can accumulate points or rewards through swing competitions at the golf clubs. Although basic points can be earned in the first round of competitions, and points can be accumulated through other means, free account users primarily receive non-financial rewards such as tickets.
To earn GOLF tokens, users must become paid members of GolfN, with monthly fees ranging from $15 to $1,000. Members enjoy various benefits, including faster accumulation of tokens that can be traded for golf equipment or bought and sold on the open market. The platform also offers a rental mechanism for virtual club collectibles, further promoting token liquidity.
A New Avenue for Golf Economics on Blockchain
Phillips believes this paid subscription model is similar to premium credit cards, as golf enthusiasts view expenditures on their favorite sport as reasonable investments. He pointed out that GolfN would also serve as an important channel for traditional golf businesses, providing precise user data and expanding commercial potential.
As for the proportion and composition of users, Phillips predicts a ratio of 10:1 between non-cryptocurrency users and cryptocurrency natives on the platform, indicating that the application will primarily cater to a broad community of golf players.
Phillips notes that cryptocurrency users typically possess higher education levels and disposable income. During the development of GolfN, he observed that many users originally focused on the cryptocurrency space are gradually transitioning into golf enthusiasts.
The Development History of Web 3 and Golf: From LinksDAO to GolfN
The combination of Web 3 and golf is not unprecedented. In 2022, LinksDAO raised $10 million via NFT fundraising and, in 2023, acquired the Spey Bay Golf Club in Scotland, becoming the world’s first golf course managed by a cryptocurrency community. The organization is also involved in the co-management of the second golf course in Kansas City, showcasing the tangible steps blockchain is taking in the golf sector.
Although GolfN has a vast potential market, its complex rewards and points accumulation system may pose a barrier for general users. The interplay of various gameplay concepts, including GOLF tokens, tickets, points, NFT clubs, and digital golf equipment, may require even cryptocurrency professionals to spend time understanding its logic and differences during initial use.
Phillips stated that GolfN aims to become a key hub linking Web 3 and the mainstream sports market. He emphasized that GolfN is not merely an app for recording game scores but a comprehensive Web 3 sports gaming application platform that offers rewards, community engagement, and asset accumulation opportunities.
