Richard Teng’s first participation in a major Web3 conference in Asia
Clear regulation brings confidence to users
The Asia-Pacific region is crucial for blockchain development
Taipei Blockchain Week was Richard Teng’s first participation in a major Web3 conference in Asia since becoming CEO of Binance. He delivered a keynote speech titled “Guiding the Next Billion Users into the Web3 Era” through online participation. Unlike most Web3 industry CEOs, Richard has a strong background in traditional finance and regulation. He has been one of the few regulators to start regulating virtual assets globally and will use his accumulated experience over the past thirty years to help Binance continue to grow.
Regarding the future prospects of virtual asset development, Richard pointed out that as the regulation of the industry matures and top global financial institutions enter the blockchain and Web3 field, it will greatly promote the large-scale adoption of virtual assets. The growth rate in the future will also be higher than that of the past five years. He further explained that clear regulation can build more confidence for users and bring more transparency to the industry. With regulation in place, more institutional investors will join, bringing new capital, liquidity, users, and product innovation to the industry. Both of these factors play a crucial role in large-scale adoption.
In terms of regulation, Richard also emphasized the importance of cooperation with regulatory authorities. He stated that Binance actively communicates with many regulatory units in various jurisdictions that want to regulate virtual assets, helping them understand the potential of this technology and how to introduce investment and create talent pools. At the same time, Binance also conducts multiple blockchain law enforcement training programs in Taiwan to debunk misconceptions and misunderstandings about the industry, contributing to its positive and steady development.
Regarding the development of virtual assets in the Asia-Pacific region, Richard also expressed his positive views. He pointed out that the Asia-Pacific region is an important area for the future development of the industry, with rapid development in many aspects. Taiwan, for example, has a vibrant Web3 community. In terms of regulation, apart from Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong have also started industry regulation, and this trend is happening in all regions worldwide.
Richard pointed out that the industry changes rapidly, and it is difficult to predict what innovations will emerge in the future. However, Binance will closely monitor all developments, continue to learn and innovate, and invest in the entire Web3 industry. He also looks forward to closer collaboration with Taiwan partners, regulatory authorities, and policymakers to bring more prosperity to Taiwan’s Web3 ecosystem. At the same time, Binance will adhere to compliance, achieve sustainable corporate development, and move towards a longer-term future.
