Significant Progress Achieved in Collaboration between BingX and Dolphin and Whale Conservation Association in Anti-Captivity Efforts

BingX Charity and the Whale and Dolphin Conservation have recently made significant progress in opposing global whale and dolphin captivity.

BingX Charity is the charity organization under BingX, a leading global cryptocurrency exchange. The two parties became strategic partners in December 2023, collaborating on the End Captivity Project to raise awareness about the cruelty of captive whales and dolphins and reduce visits to captive animal attractions.

The End Captivity Project aims to combat the growing whale and dolphin captivity industry. Currently, over 3,600 whales and dolphins are being held captive in 350 facilities across 59 countries, many of which are located in coastal areas. The collaboration between BingX and the Whale and Dolphin Conservation includes comprehensive research, exposing and publicizing the breeding and live capture methods used in the industry, and reducing public visits. Additionally, the two parties plan to expand their influence through mainstream video platforms and social media channels.

In the latest project progress report issued by the Whale and Dolphin Conservation, significant achievements in opposing whale and dolphin captivity were shared. This includes successfully persuading major UK tour operators to stop selling tickets to visit captive whale and dolphin parks. Institutions such as easyJet Holidays and Jet2holidays have committed to stop all promotion and sales of tickets to public displays of captive whales and dolphins. Furthermore, the supported animal bill, backed by the Whale and Dolphin Conservation, has received royal assent and will soon launch a public consultation. This new law will prevent travel companies from promoting low welfare activities abroad.

BingX’s Chief Product Officer, Vivien Lin, stated, “Both BingX and the Whale and Dolphin Conservation are passionate about protecting whales and dolphins, and our values align closely. The End Captivity Project has made significant progress in raising awareness about the cruelty of captive wildlife. Through this collaboration, we hope to spread the relevant expertise of BingX and the Whale and Dolphin Conservation. Let us work together and contribute to these beautiful creatures.”

Currently, the Whale and Dolphin Conservation and BingX are preparing for future projects, with the aim of targeting well-known dolphin facilities in European holiday resorts. This campaign will utilize digital display screens at the six largest airports in the UK, attracting at least 5 million travelers, urging the public to avoid watching dolphin shows during their vacations. Additionally, the campaign will conduct targeted advertising on social media, encouraging people to travel responsibly and share the cruel reality of captive wildlife, contributing to animal protection.
