Binance Charity Airdrops $1 Million Worth of BNB to Users in Taiwan Earthquake-stricken Areas
In response to the recent disaster caused by the Hualien earthquake in Taiwan, Binance Charity will airdrop BNB tokens worth up to $1 million to Binance users in the affected area (equivalent to approximately NT$32 million).
User identification will be based on the user’s Binance Know Your Customer (KYC) address and Proof of Address (POA) in the most affected areas of Hualien County’s 13 towns and cities. Binance users who have completed KYC or POA by April 5, 2024, will receive $120 worth of BNB directly into their Binance accounts. Additionally, existing users in the Hualien area who completed account registration by April 5, 2024 (excluding April 5), and completed POA between April 5, 2024 (inclusive) and April 20, 2024 (inclusive), will receive $25 worth of BNB.
We expect the funds to be airdropped into eligible user accounts starting from April 8, 2024.
In recent years, blockchain and virtual assets have provided a new way for charitable donations, making the process faster, cost-effective, and transparent. It enables direct delivery of funds to beneficiaries without the need for intermediaries or individuals. On the other hand, beneficiaries also have greater freedom to decide how to use the funds according to their needs.
Richard Teng, CEO of Binance, stated, “We are deeply saddened by the impact of the recent earthquake in Taiwan and hope to extend a helping hand to the affected people. We also encourage users who have received donations but have not been affected by the earthquake to pass on the funds to those who truly need them.”
At this critical moment, Binance stands with our users and communities. In the past, Binance has provided assistance to users in Ukraine, Turkey, Morocco, Libya, and more.
