Short-term surge in EigenLayer TVL
Within two hours of EigenLayer’s tweet announcing the removal of the staking limit on February 6, the TVL surged by 750 million USD.
According to DefiLlama, the TVL has reached 3.218 billion USD, an increase of approximately 1 billion USD from the previous day. The majority of the new funds are from Lido’s stETH, accounting for about 80% of new deposits. The current TVL structure is shown in the following diagram.
EigenLayer TVL Structure
EigenLayer chose to gradually remove the staking limit in order to “attract organic demand,” but at some point in the future, the staking limit will be permanently removed. Currently, staking is open until 4:00 am Taiwan time on February 10, and a new limit will be set thereafter. Since mid-December last year, EigenLayer’s TVL has increased by over 2 billion USD.
