Manta Network’s core developer Victorji.eth has voiced his criticism without reservation. As the founder of the largest non-DOT TVL and market cap project within the Polkadot ecosystem, his comments carry significant weight. He publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the Polkadot ecosystem, describing it as “highly toxic” and lacking genuine value for web3. Victorji.eth emphasized the ecosystem’s failure to focus on user adoption and accused it of discriminatory behavior towards Asian founders.

Victorji.eth highlighted a major issue: discrimination against Asian developers. He pointed out disparities in grant allocations, with projects in Europe and the United States receiving more support than Asian projects. This sense of prejudice is widely felt among many Asian founders in the ecosystem.

Further exacerbating discrimination allegations is the Polkadot Academy event held in Hong Kong. Despite being an event in Asia, fewer than a quarter of the participants were Asian. Victorji.eth recalled his interaction with Polkadot co-founder Gavin Wood at this event. Despite Manta Network’s high standing in the ecosystem, Gavin Wood showed a clear lack of understanding of Manta Network’s initiatives, highlighting developers’ frustration.

Given the issues in the Polkadot ecosystem, Manta Network has shifted its focus to Ethereum L2 and embraced a modular ecosystem. This strategic shift aims to foster better development opportunities and a more promising future. Victorji.eth expressed appreciation for this shift, noting that it allows them to continue developing innovative solutions without the constraints of the Polkadot ecosystem.

Victorji.eth urged developers still operating within the Polkadot ecosystem to consider migrating to more active and supportive environments like Solana, Ethereum, and Bitcoin. He emphasized that these ecosystems offer better growth and development opportunities, free from the discrimination and bureaucratic inefficiencies plaguing Polkadot.

The controversy over Polkadot’s marketing expenditures reveals deeper internal issues within the ecosystem, particularly in how Asian developers are treated. As Manta Network and other projects seek better opportunities elsewhere, the Polkadot community faces significant introspection. Addressing these issues is crucial to fostering a truly inclusive environment that supports all developers.
