Craig Wright has always claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto, transitioning from supporting Bitcoin to Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and later forking into Bitcoin SV (BSV) in 2018. He is an Australian citizen and is known in the community as “Faketoshi.”
Craig Wright has been adept at legal battles and, despite being unable to prove in court that he is Satoshi Nakamoto, his well-funded legal team has consistently given him the upper hand in various copyright infringement lawsuits.

According to CoinDesk, James Mellor believes that the evidence presented during the month-long trial is overwhelming. Before writing a complete judgment, he made the following statements:
Craig Wright is not the author of the Bitcoin whitepaper.
Craig Wright did not use the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto between 2008 and 2011.
Craig Wright is not the creator of the Bitcoin system.
Craig Wright is not the original author of the Bitcoin software.
Active assistance from the crypto community, Craig Wright finally loses
Prominent figures in the Bitcoin community, such as OG and podcast host Peter McCormack, and Cobra, the operator of Bitcoin.org, have previously lost lawsuits to Craig Wright, potentially resulting in substantial legal fees, including paying Craig Wright.

However, there has been a turnaround with the active involvement of Twitter founder Jack Dorsey and Coinbase.
Jack Dorsey’s payment company, Square, established the Cryptocurrency Open Patent Alliance (COPA) in 2021, aiming to protect the ideals of freedom and decentralization in the crypto community, assist in similar lawsuits as Craig Wright’s, and defend against patent trolls.
COPA filed a lawsuit against Wright in 2021 to prevent him from taking legal action against developers and other members of the cryptocurrency community.
COPA told CoinDesk:
This ruling is a victory for developers, the entire open-source community, and the truth. For over eight years, Craig Wright and his supporters have lied by claiming he is Satoshi Nakamoto and have used this lie to bully and intimidate the Bitcoin community and developers.
Cannot privately claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto
Craig Wright’s lawyer, Lord Anthony Grabiner, is apparently dissatisfied with the outcome and stated:
This injunction is unprecedented in the UK. Even Craig Wright going to a park and claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto could result in fines or imprisonment. The injunction is vicious, and the court should consider a judgment that does not violate Craig Wright’s freedom of speech. He should be able to communicate to his own community who he is.
Judge James Mellor did not disclose when the final written judgment will be released, and Craig Wright has not publicly commented on the outcome.
