CZ Issues Urgent Statement of Support, Announces Donation of Nearly $300,000 in BNB for Disaster Relief
On the day of the earthquake, Binance founder Zhao Changpeng (CZ) posted on Twitter (X), expressing his concern: “I hope everyone in Thailand is safe.” He then announced that he would donate approximately $300,000 in the form of 500 BNB to assist in disaster relief for both Thailand and Myanmar.

Cryptocurrency Plays a Key Role in Disaster Relief
Due to the rapid transfer efficiency, low transaction fees, and immediate settlement characteristics of cryptocurrency, more and more non-profit organizations and users are choosing to use crypto assets as emergency relief funds. For example:
- After the 2023 Turkey and Syria earthquake, philanthropist Haluk Levent initiated a crypto donation program.
- The Giving Block, which assists non-profit organizations with fundraising, has raised over $1 million for wildfire victims in Hawaii.
- Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin donated approximately $5 million in Ether (ETH) to victims of the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
- In early 2024, they initiated emergency aid for the wildfire situation in Los Angeles, California, which showed significant results.
