ETHTaipei commenced on April 1, featuring an opening dialogue with Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum Foundation Executive Director Hsiao-Wei Wang, and Ethereum Foundation spokesperson Joseph Schweitzer. True to its nature, the Ethereum Foundation played a prank on April Fool’s Day. (Vitalik chose to wear a Milady mask and dress in Moodeng apparel, which was quite a meme.)

Today is a special day, as you heard this morning. One of the industry’s largest transactions ever, Blockstream announced that Bitcoin will soon be launching Bitcoin 2.0 to address security and quantum computing attacks. Bitcoin 2.0 will serve as the settlement layer for Rollups, while Ethereum will be the native L2 stack.
Vitalik, you mentioned earlier that you and Tim Beiko will be moving to Blockstream in the next four years. How do you view this development and Adam Back’s upcoming leadership?
Vitalik:
The merger of Bitcoin and Ethereum is quite exciting. This is due to the original version maintained by Craig Wright. The prospect of Ethereum returning to PoW while Bitcoin transitions to PoS is thrilling, allowing all transactions to occur simultaneously. The crypto world should do more interesting things for the world, with more expansions and strategic actions. Just like Elon Musk frequently launches rockets that then explode, we should be doing some strategic things to show the world something interesting. We are excited to collaborate with Blockstream.
