Pump.Fun Launches Mobile Application, Highlighting Users’ Ability to Quickly and Freely Generate Shitcoins on Their Phones
On February 14, the Solana meme coin launch platform Pump.Fun announced on X that its mobile application, Pump.Fun App, has been launched on Google Play and the Apple Store. The logo features a green and white pill. This marks a significant innovation for the platform since it closed and banned live streaming last November. The platform has now expanded to a mobile application, allowing retail investors to issue their own meme coins using the Pump.Fun app on their smartphones and also to place bets on meme coins for entertainment.
How to use the Pump.Fun mobile application
Registering for the Pump.Fun application is quite simple; users just need to enter their email to create a new account, which can be linked to an existing Phantom wallet. Pump.Fun focuses on the free and quick issuance of meme coins. Users can also create their own watchlist to track the latest trends of their favorite meme coins.
Steps to register on the Pump.Fun APP
1. Download the application from the iOS Store or Google Play.
2. Open the application and enter your email address to register a new account. Gmail can be used for registration, and the system will send a verification code to the registered email. After opening the email, note down the verification code, return to the downloaded application, and input the verification code to create the account. Once the account is set up, users can enter a nickname of their choice. It is important to note that Pump.Fun will bind to the email, and each time you log in, you will need to enter the verification code sent by the system. Ensure that the email used for logging into Pump.Fun is functioning properly.
3. After creating an account, open the user profile in the lower right corner. On the banner in the middle of the app, there is a “Deposit Now” button. Clicking this will connect to the Phantom cryptocurrency wallet to transfer SOL. If you do not have Phantom, you can use the built-in link on your phone to download the wallet.
4. To issue a coin, go to the section below the wallet: “Create a coin” to start creating a meme coin. Upload an image or video, enter the name and Ticker of the meme coin along with a textual description. The Ticker is the abbreviation for the cryptocurrency’s name; for example, the abbreviation for Ethereum is ETH. According to the author’s test, after uploading an image from an iPhone, naming the meme coin and filling in the name, Ticker abbreviation, and textual description took less than two minutes to create the meme coin, making it very quick and easy. Moreover, there is no need to transfer SOL to list the meme coin.
Note: The creation of meme coins is “not yet on-chain.” To go on the Solana chain, it is necessary to transfer SOL and complete the initial purchase process for the meme coin to be officially on-chain. Pump.Fun includes a disclaimer stating that Pump.Fun is “not” an exchange and does not provide any investment advice; meme coins are not digital assets and have no inherent value. All transactions are processed through the platform’s Privy.io self-custody wallets, and Pump.Fun will extract service fees from each transaction.
Interestingly, Pump.Fun has received very low ratings on iOS, with currently 51 ratings and only two and a half stars. Many negative reviews give one star, claiming that the Pump.Fun App is a scam and garbage; however, there are also numerous five-star reviews that seem to be artificially inflated, with those giving five stars urging others to buy certain meme coins. This indicates that, regardless of positive or negative feedback, these online reviews are largely unreliable.
